Anil Akgunes built the Headbands: Charades Group Game app as a Freemium app. The app is free to download and use, with optional in-app purchases and subscriptions for premium features. This SERVICE is provided by Anil Akgunes and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding my policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of information if anyone decides to use my Service.

If you choose to use my Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The information collected is used for providing, maintaining, analyzing, and improving the Service. I will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible at https://www.playcharades.app/terms-of-use unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

The app does not require you to create an account, and I do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth in order to play.

Information Collection and Use

For a better experience and to provide, maintain, and improve the Service, the app collects a limited amount of information automatically through third-party services. This may include app usage data, product interaction data (such as which paywalls were viewed and which buttons were tapped), an anonymous app-generated identifier, purchase history and subscription status, the country and language reported by your device's operating system settings, your device's operating system version, the app version, and the time and date of use.

This information is used for analytics, app functionality, subscription management, troubleshooting, improving existing features, planning new features, measuring app performance, and maintaining the Service.

The app does not collect your precise or approximate location. Country information is derived only from your device's regional settings, and IP-based location lookup is explicitly disabled in the analytics configuration used by the app.

The app does not use this information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for targeted advertising purposes.

The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify your device.

Camera, Microphone, and Video Recording

The app includes an optional video recording feature that is turned off by default and must be enabled by you before a game starts.

When you enable it, the app asks for permission to use your device's camera and microphone. While a round is in progress, the front camera is shown as a low-opacity background behind the game, and the app records video from the front camera together with audio from the microphone. On iOS, the app also records the game screen so that the word card and the countdown can be combined with your camera footage into a single clip.

These recordings are created and stored entirely on your own device. They are saved in the app's private storage area, are excluded from iCloud backup, and are visible to you in the app's Saved Videos screen.

Your recordings are never uploaded to my servers and are never sent to any third party by the app. A recording leaves your device only if you choose to share it yourself using your device's standard share sheet, in which case it is handed to the app you select (for example Messages or Instagram) and is then governed by that app's own privacy policy.

You can delete any individual recording, or all recordings at once, at any time from the Saved Videos screen. Deleting the app also deletes all recordings. You can revoke camera and microphone access at any time in your device's system settings; the rest of the app continues to work without it.

Photos and Sharing

The app can generate an image of your game result card and let you share it. The image is created on your device and passed to your device's share sheet.

The app does not read your photo library, does not import your photos or videos, and does not save anything to your camera roll on its own. The photo library permission descriptions shown by the operating system exist so that sharing to apps that read from or write to your photo library works correctly.

Motion and Sensors

During gameplay, the app reads your device's motion sensor (accelerometer) so that tilting the device can register a correct guess or a pass. This sensor data is used only in the moment, on your device, to run the game. It is not stored and not transmitted.

Feedback You Send

The app contains optional feedback forms, including a general feedback form, a form for reporting a problem with a specific word, and a short rating prompt at the end of a round.

If you choose to submit one of these forms, the information you enter is sent to a server operated by me on Google Cloud Platform. Depending on the form, this may include the free-text message you wrote, the star rating you selected, the name or identifier of the category you were playing, the word being reported, your app language, the app version, and your country. No account identifier or analytics identifier is attached to these submissions.

Feedback is submitted only when you actively tap the send button, and it is used only to review and act on what you reported. Please do not include personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number in the free-text message, as it is not needed to act on your feedback.

If you contact me by email using the "Contact Us" option, the app opens your own mail app with my address prefilled. Nothing is sent until you send it, and the app does not attach any files or data to that email.

Log Data and Analytics

Whenever you use my Service, third-party service providers may collect data and information related to your use of the app. This data may include your device's operating system version, app version, app configuration, app interactions, session activity, purchase and subscription events, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics. Third-party service providers may also process your IP address in the course of delivering their services.

This data helps us understand how the app is used, analyze feature performance, improve the user experience, fix technical issues, measure subscription performance, and maintain the Service.

The app does not integrate a crash reporting service, and the content of your gameplay, your scores, and any custom word lists you create are not sent to analytics providers.

Purchases and Subscriptions

The app offers in-app purchases and subscriptions. Purchases and subscriptions are processed through the App Store. I do not collect or store your payment card information, bank account information, or other payment details.

The app uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status, purchase history, entitlements, free trials, renewals, cancellations, and restore purchases. RevenueCat identifies your subscription using an anonymous identifier that it generates; the app does not provide your name, email address, or any other account identifier to RevenueCat. This information is used to provide app functionality, manage access to premium features, and analyze subscription performance.

Data Stored Only on Your Device

The following information is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to me or to any third party: your custom categories and the words you add to them, your favorite categories, your app preferences (such as language, theme, dark mode, countdown, and video recording settings), your game scores and round results, and your recorded video clips. This data is removed when you delete the app.

Tracking and Advertising

The app does not request access to the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not display the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

The app does not share user identifiers, device identifiers, email lists, or purchase history with third-party advertising networks for retargeting, lookalike audiences, or similar advertising purposes.

The app does use Apple's privacy-preserving Ad Services attribution mechanism, provided through RevenueCat, to understand at an aggregate level whether an installation came from an Apple Search Ads campaign. This mechanism is supplied by Apple, does not use the advertising identifier, and does not allow you to be identified or followed across other companies' apps or websites.

Cookies

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.

This Service does not use cookies explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use similar technologies, such as locally stored anonymous identifiers, to collect information and improve their services.

Service Providers

I may employ third-party companies and individuals for the following reasons:

However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose except as required to provide their services.

Data Retention

Analytics and subscription data are retained by the relevant service providers for as long as needed for the purposes described above, in accordance with their own retention policies. Feedback you submit is retained for as long as needed to review and act on it. Data stored on your device, including your recorded video clips, is kept until you delete it or delete the app.

International Data Transfers

The third-party service providers listed above are located in, or may process data in, countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, these providers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, for such transfers.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information relating to you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the app has no accounts and the data collected is anonymous, I may not be able to locate information relating to you without additional details from you. You can exercise these rights, or ask any question about them, by contacting me at the email address below.

You can stop all analytics and subscription-related collection at any time by deleting the app, and you can revoke camera and microphone access at any time in your device's system settings.

Security

I value your trust in providing us your information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and I cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

The app is rated 4+ and is intended for a general audience, including families and groups playing together. It does not contain age-restricted content.

The app does not ask anyone, including children, for a name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or any other personal detail. There is no account, no profile, no messaging, and no way for players to contact each other or exchange content inside the app.

The optional video recording feature is designed so that no recording is ever transmitted off the device by the app, which means that no camera or microphone content from any player, including a child playing along with family or friends, is collected by me or by any third party.

The anonymous analytics described above are used only to understand how the app and its subscription options are performing. They are not linked to a real-world identity, are never used for advertising, and are never used to build a profile of a player.

Purchases and subscriptions are intended to be made by an adult. Parents and guardians can restrict or disable in-app purchases at any time using Screen Time and Content & Privacy Restrictions on the device, and can revoke camera and microphone access in the device's system settings.
